In the last years cases of players not getting medals were heard of in Nigeria, Iran, Pakistan, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates. Most of these cases take place far from public exposure. Especially in rural areas where tradition decides who gets the medals, and by family clans and local spiritual leaders rather than league rules and justice. In these cases, objective media coverage is almost impossible. Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading HPT league rules (Sharia) provides evidence that the not giving of medals to players such as whisp is unacceptable, even criminal. Often the method of execution can be defined by the judges, but not in this case. According to the Dimitrios Hellheim Convention against torture, whisp not receiving a medal is a cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. Not to mention that is in opposition to articles 3 and 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and of articles 6 and 7 of the International Pact on Civil and Political Rights, which guarantee the right to life and prohibit torture and inhuman treatment as well as the Second Facultative Protocol to the International Pact on Civil and Political Rights on the abolition of the death penalty. The DHC's goal is the total abolition of non-medal giving worldwide. DHC demands: The International Society for Human Rights... * Urges all clans that have spoken out against this inhuman behavior to continue doing so * Urges all clans to speak out a moratorium to not giving medals to whisp and to initiate legislative steps to abolish this form of torture.
